OUR ORGANIZATION

 

UNION SYMPHONY SOCIETY, INC. is a nonprofit organization which provides administrative services and recruits financial support for the development of programs for classical music education and artistic excellence in symphonic orchestra and choral masterpiece performances to inspire and enrich the lives of an all inclusive diverse population. Union Symphony Society, Inc. seeks to maintain sound financial stability with clear accountability, to maintain the highest standards in performance and programming, and to operate in a culture of community service, respect and collaboration.

The Strings Program, for children Grades 1–4, served 26 children last season. 

UNION SYMPHONY PROGRAMS

 

Cultural
• Our fall concert features our youth concerto winner Ms. Diana Searle playing

along with the orchestra of professional musicians performing works by Mozart.
Hansel and Gretel is a program that showcases Union Symphony Orchestra with

Wingate University Opera.
• A fall program highlights the Union Symphony Orchestra and Chorus performing

Vivaldi “Gloria” and Bach “For Unto Us A Child is Born”.
Up Close and Personal is a Valentine’s Day special dinner and pops concert extravaganza.
• Our spring concert presents Messiah Parts II and III and features Union Symphony Orchestra and

Chorus (first night) and Union Symphony Orchestra with the Wingate University Singers (second night).
• Amazing Grace Musical Competition is open to individuals or groups of all ages to showcase their personal

instrumental and/or vocal renditions of the classic hymn of that name.


Youth

• Benton Heights After School Strings Program for children Grades 1–4 served 26 children last season.
• Fred Ingold Memorial Music Festival was a county wide feature concert and program serving nearly 4000

second grade students and their teachers.
• The new Junior Guild will provide exposure to the symphony and leadership opportunities to students

Grades 7–12. Students will meet musicians, assist at symphony events, conduct fund raising and attend

cultural events related to their music development. There will also be venues for their own musical performance.
• Youth Instrumentalist Concerto Competition provides area high school students the opportunity to audition to

showcase exceptional abilities. This competition is judged by area experts in the field.
